Guys, so I've been ring shopping for a while now and keep coming back to oval cut diamonds. Here in the US everyone seems to default to round brilliant but the oval looks stunning on the hand from what I've seen. Anyone gone this route and can share whether it holds up as well in person as it does in photos?
Oval is honestly one of the better cuts for the money. You get more visual size per carat compared to round which matters when you're working with a budget. The elongated shape also flatters most hand types which is a practical bonus beyond just aesthetics.
The elongated shape point is real, it makes a noticeable difference on the finger compared to a round stone of the same carat weight. Oval diamond engagement rings have a softness to them that round cuts don't quite replicate, more romantic somehow without being over the top. Setting style matters a lot with this cut too, a good solitaire or a delicate halo brings out the best in the shape. Worth looking at specific pieces rather than going by the cut description alone.
