I am considering relocating to Belgrade for work next year

Good afternoon. I am considering relocating to Belgrade for work next year, remote contract, so I have flexibility on timing. The practical questions are piling up: which neighbourhoods suit someone who wants to walk everywhere, what the residence paperwork actually involves in practice, and whether the cost of living reputation still holds. Most expat content I find is either promotional or from people who moved five years ago when things were cheaper. Where do people get current information on this?

The five year old content problem is significant here, rents in central Belgrade have moved a lot. For neighbourhoods, look at Dorćol if you want to walk everywhere, Vračar if you want quieter residential, and avoid assuming New Belgrade is cheap, some of it no longer is. I follow the Balkan travel guides , and their expat and relocation section on PickBalkan for the district profiles and logistics side. On paperwork, be aware that written guidance and what a specific counter tells you can differ, so budget time and patience rather than relying on any single source. On cost of living: still reasonable by Western European standards, no longer the bargain it was.
