Coming off of two of the worst seasons in the modern era for a non-expansion team, the were in desperate need of a young star they could build their team around and help get them headed back toward respectability. In the eyes of their fans (and most likely their front office) most of the 2014-15 season was built on the very idea of being bad enough to land that type of player. They did just that with No. 2 overall pick . Eichel scored a pair of goals for the Sabres on Saturday afternoon, including the game-winning goal in overtime, to help lead his team to a 3-2 win over the . The winning goal in overtime was pretty outstanding because it not only came on a breakaway just before time ran out (he scored with one second left on the clock following a perfect alley-oop type pa s from Evander Kane) but because he made it look ridiculously easy. Almost as if he didn't even Jj Peterka Jersey have to break a sweat to do it. Eichel. So clutch. So easy. So beautiful. NHL (@NHL) Look at how casual he is on that play. He made it look like he was just sliding the puck into an empty net with no goalie standing in front of him. For Eichel, that is his 22nd goal of the season and now puts him on a pace to score 25 this season, which would be a pretty incredible accomplishment for a 19-year-old. Since 1990 only 13 players under the age of 20 have scored at least 25 goals in a season, with only eight of them (Jaromir Jagr, Pat Falloon, Eric Lindros, Jason Arnott, Ilya Kovalchuk, Sidney Crosby, Jordan Staal, and Jeff Skinner) doing it as rookies. If he ends up continuing on this pace and is able to score three more goals over his next 12 games, he will join a pretty select list of players. Jack Eichel makes it look too easy in the NHL sometimes. (MSG/NHL) Pat Lafontaine Jersey
