Forza Horizon 6 Cross-Save FAQ: PS5, Xbox, Steam Progress Explained

    How Cross-Save Works

    Universal Save Sync

How Cross-Save Works:Your progress is stored on the game’s servers, not just on your console or PC. This means unlocked cars, race progress, player level, and achievements move with you. Start on one device, pick up on another—no restart needed.

    Steam & Xbox Sync
For the first time, Steam and Xbox versions fully sync. Your garage and progress on Steam will match your Xbox save seamlessly.

    PlayStation 5 Support
The PS5 version launches later in 2026. Any progress made on Xbox or PC will carry over, letting you jump right back into the action.

    Xbox Play Anywhere
Buy the game digitally on the Xbox Store and you get both Xbox and PC licenses (via the Xbox app), including shared DLC entitlements. Perfect for PC players who also want console access.

    Progress & DLC Limitations

    DLC is Platform-Specific
Your save travels, but paid content like Car Packs or Expansions must be bought separately on each platform. The only exception is Xbox + Microsoft Store PC via Xbox Play Anywhere.

    Separate Game Purchases
Moving your save to Steam or PS5 still requires a separate purchase of the base game. Progress moves, but the license does not.

    Legacy Content
You cannot transfer full FH5 saves to Horizon 6. However, you can usually import liveries and tuning files from previous titles, so your favorite custom designs aren’t lost.

    Release Dates

    Platform Release Date
Xbox Series X S / PC (Steam & Microsoft Store)
Early Access (Premium Edition) May 15, 2026
    PlayStation 5 Late 2026

With this system, Forza Horizon 6 lets you race your favorite cars on any platform without losing a single upgrade or achievement. Just remember, while your progress moves freely, DLC and licenses stay platform-specific.
