What is a Ball Valve?

How a Ball Valve Works
The working mechanism of a ball valve is very basic.
There is a spherical ball inside the valve body. This ball has a drilled hole. When you turn the handle, it moves the stem, which in turn will rotate the ball. If the hole in the ball aligns with the pipeline, liquid will flow through the pipe without any hindrance.
Making a quarter turn will orient the hole so that it rotates away from the pipeline and a solid side of the ball will block the path and the flow will stop entirely.
